correlation The Fever and every other WNBA team, it seems :( The first team to invest in an actual scouting department will be way ahead of the game.

I have no concern. It is not too long for a player who has suffered three re-injuries and is one re-injury away from likely being shut down for the season. It’s not just about the groin. Not sure how you can’t see that.

I think the Fever FO not having a scouting department is disappointing but not unsurprising given most WNBA teams don’t and the prior Fever FO regime was bottom of the league. I also think some people put more energy into complaining about this team than they do rooting for it.

Yeah agreed. I think expecting the Fever FO to do a complete overhaul of the organization, coaching staff, and half the roster while also being at the front of the line of implementing changes to league wide issues is a bit unfair. I do expect it to grow and evolve next year.

That last part. I think the patience element is key. They already jumped ahead of schedule and did a complete overhaul of so much of the team and organization and people still constantly say they haven’t done enough. I’m not quite sure people will ever be content tbh.

We need to stop revering last yr’s 20-20 “run and gun” team as this major success. Ppl just liked it because the offense was fun and Caitlin was putting up big numbers. The Fever picked up vets to surround their young core to try and contend before the CBA shakeup. Good work IMO

Yeah agreed. People want everything at once and everything to be perfect with no mistakes and anything less seems to be an abject failure lol.

That’s a good question. I think the answer more lies in how much you can pay that scouting department, and can they offer a different service that the team isn’t filling. At minimum would be good to have an overseas scouting department to cover the team’s blindspots for starters

I agree to this and Retro just echoed this as well. I think there is certainly less of a need for it and comparing it to the NBA is a false equivalency. But there are leagues/tournaments like eurobasket that happen concurrently that would be good to have someone to monitor.

They do the scouting themselves in the WNBA offseason which is when the college season and most overseas leagues start.
