A transit day today heading to the northern edge of the Pantanal, but still saw or heard 105 species including Roseate Spoonbill, Golden Green Woodpecker, Scaled Dove & Southern Screamer

On the non-avian front, a Tiger Rat Snake, lots of impressive Caiman, an Azara’s Agouti & a very interesting bees nest. Also saw Six-Banded Armadillo & Whip Tailed Lizard. Another packed day.

Yesterday was an excellent day for mammals - Crab-Eating Fox, Azara’s Capuchin, Coatimundi & Azara’s Agouti. Also saw Brown Brocket Deer, Capybara & Black Tailed Marmoset

And to our final destination- Trilha dos Tucanos deep in the Atlantic Rainforest near São Paulo. The birds are even more colourful - Violaceous Euphonia, Chestnut- Bellied Euphonia, Green Headed Tanager and Black- Goggled Tanager

Also Yellow- Legged Thrush (the bully of the feeders), female Ruby-Crowned & Olive-Green Tanagers and a male Olive- Green Tanager. Also saw our fourth Tapir of the trip. Tomorrow promises some great birding

Also Maroon-bellied Parakeet, Mantled Hawk, Magpie Tanagers and Saffron Toucanet. A truly memorable day finishing again with the Tapir joined tonight by two Paca (large rodents). Long journey home starts tomorrow evening

Our last morning gave us Surucua Trogon, Yellow-Fronted Woodpecker, Red-ruffed Fruitcrow & Blond Crested Woodpecker. Other highlights were a male Festive Coquette, Black & White Hawk Eagle, White-shouldered Fireeye. A great end to a great trip
