Thank you Alessio Patalano I had the pleasure of hosting/escorting ADM Takei in April 2024 - ANU National Security College 'future conference' A great few days - took him to see his 1st wild kangaroo - easy in Canberra. An astute thinker & absolute gentleman.

To dismiss this notion of CCP grand strategy is amiss. I wonder which other state(s) have (over the horizon thinking) & working toward surely needed updated polar policy. Optimism will not suffice. Thx Dr Elizabeth Buchanan ASPI

Last time we did one of those there were only 3 flat tops. And fewer European flags. Consolidating a practice whilst showing where to go next - a European commitment. Because a Euro-Atlantic first policy doesn’t end when one leaves European shores.

I have been saying for a few years that 'bad seamanship' appears to be a legitimate CCP 'maritime forces' tactic. Perhaps I was optimistic & bad seamanship was a fascade for reckless & unprofessional on-water conduct by CCP mariners. Jay Tarriela ANU National Security College ASPI

For all of the real and justified angst about the Royal Navy’s future, this is genuinely heartening to see. The seeds of an old alliance reborn.

Additionally, the Atlantic where doctrinal maturation & pioneering air warfare concepts were critical to wartime successes. Unfortunately the anti-carrier league still offer resistance & cherry picked logic. Euan Graham ASPI

It appears 🇦🇺 will remain a 'client navy' for the foreseeable future. There has been successful shipbuilding programs, however historically these are exceptions. Research worth pursuing - from ships Warrego to Arafura what works? What does 🇦🇺 need to do? navalnews.com/naval-news/202…

After the Japanese announced their intent to surrender #OTD in 1945, the U.S. Navy revealed that it had been planning the most intense and destructive concentration of carrier airpower in history by launching more than 10,000 sorties in support of the invasion of Japan. #VJDay

Thanks, Blake Herzinger, I'm in the middle of researching the purpose of war—your post sparks thoughts on realpolitik. Realpolitik prioritizes power, security, and national interests over ideology or ethics, asking, “What works?” not “What is right?” Are states reverting to

The USS Enterprise has an extraordinary record - it would be down to her devoted ships company - the people and Commanding Officers - if I understand correctly, the Big E had 8 COs between 38 - 45. I imagine the demands of persistent fight, repair, sustain & repeat took its toll.
