Your Transportation Team just wanted to reach out on our first Tweet and let everyone know how excited we are to be able to share daily information with you and keep you up to date on all things transportation!

Safety Starts at the Bus Stop Your child should arrive at the bus stop at least ten minutes before the bus is scheduled. You should visit the bus stop and show your child where to wait for the bus: three giant steps away from the curb. The bus stop is not a place to run or play.

When you stop for a school bus, you cannot drive again until the red lights stop flashing or when the bus driver or a traffic officer signals the you can proceed. This law applies on all roadways in New York State.

Please be cautious when following a school bus. Stay focused, keep a good following distance (recommendation is an 8 second distance) and be aware of students hidden by parked vehicles. To check following distance, select a stationary object, count until you reach that object.

Please take it slow out there. Roads may appear to be wet, but have an icy surface. One way to know if it frozen is to look for tire spray from the vehicle in front of you.

The Transportation Team is excited to be assisting our SCSD Families with food delivery beginning Friday, 3/20. I wanted to share that Brown Transport is the vendor that will deliver the food to our bus stops and that Durham Transport will be the vendor stationed at the schools.

We just wanted to take a minute to thank Brown Transportation, food staff and paras for assisting with delivering and handing out lunches to our SCSD students.
