This podcast on engaging high school shops is on point. Connecting Industry to Manufacturing Education is key. I am sure there are many shops out there that just need that connection to get moving. High Schools and Colleges need Industry involvement.

Factory Tour Robinson Helicopter Company We were lucky to be invited to a factory tour for my summer pre-apprenticeship. The students got to see a live factory building American helicopters. Too many to count, all made in Torrance, CA. They saw all levels of manufacturing! From

Well before hitting the ReIndustrialize energy, I have been looking for other high school manufacturing programs. If you know of high school or college programs that are out there, let me know. I know they exist. Bring back Shop Class! Big or small, we need to network.

This is the type of feedback manufacturing education needs to hear and see. This is what I hear from my industry partners and my alumni. It causes me to rethink and retool. As factories and workflows evolve, education needs to keep up. Thanks Greg Koenig for sharing .

This is from 7 years ago from something called the NASA Hunch program, a High School Involvement Program. NASA HUNCH Projects like this make a difference. Alex is still machining in aerospace. Manufacturing needs more stories like this. There are more schools involved in

Most days my desk is a flat surface. That I hardly see. Today the next group of freshman are choosing their electives. Show off cool projects, see if they bite. Manufacturing is cool!

I feel the American ReIndustrialize vibe. Ryan Aeronautical in San Diego, early 1960s rolling drones off the line like Detroit rolled cars. We’ve done this before. Factory floors buzzing, machines turning, parts assembled with purpose. The hidden work- unstoppable.

Biggest complaint… serious gap in skilled talent. Higher Ed is producing engineers who have no idea how to manufacture the items they design. Is this neglect or lack of knowledge? The following makes me both sad and ANGRY… sent by one of my alumni attending a university

This is how you get young people to see manufacturing as a option. Stop by, tell stories and ask questions. Our youth is hungry… literally. Bring a couple boxes of donuts. The conversation was real with Russell Varone my students had a rush of questions right after you

This is what makes me do what I do! Teaching a skill in Manufacturing to our youth requires me to stay alive in what’s new. Not a day goes by that I myself am not learning in order for me to teach and stay relevant.

What can high school manufacturing look like? Design+Machining+3D printing… equals a bunch of young kids that love to make things. Teach them young. Get them excited. What if this was your high school? Where do you find your workers ready to build?

I was taught by many people that were engineers. Non in a classroom outside of college. There is a way for degreed engineers, experienced machinists, and many other technically skilled people to teach high school and lower. It’s called a Designated Subjects Credential in

My students heard me say I need more help around here… This is what happens when you leave them alone with a bunch filament and a hand full of printers. They might replace me

Manufacturing is magic. Step one acquire chunk of metal. Install chuck of metal in metal machine Machine eats metal More people need to experience this magic. Direct quote from a high school kid making chips.

Built not bought, A senior designed, laser cut, and assembled this to leave a mark on the shop wall. Bring back shop class. Get kids making things again. Manufacturing is cool. Printers for scale…
