We recently delivered another classic #gin from Edinburgh to our #ScottishGin subscribers Lind & Lime Gin. In fact, it’s so good, this is the second time we’ve sent it; it was one of our first boxes delivered 4 yrs ago. This time round our subscribers also received a Furoshiki Wrap.
The flavour profile for Lind & Lime Gin was inspired by James Lind, an Edinburgh-born ship surgeon who worked onboard HMS Salisbury in the 18th century, attempting to fight scurvy amongst the sailors. One of his many trials showed citrus fruit could vastly improve a sailor’s health.
Aptly, Lind & Lime Gin's signature flavour is lime; not artificial or confected lime but proper zesty lime. The production team spend countless hours peeling organic limes by hand leaving behind the pith and juice, which they then use for cocktails on the distillery tours.
It’s been quite the journey for friends and founders Ian Stirling and Paddy Fletcher. Lind & Lime Gin was launched in 2018 and clearly had all the magic ingredients to make a great brand, product and story so it stands firmly on its own two feet, with its own dedicated distillery.
And in 2023, after years of investment, planning and building, The Port of Leith Distillery also opened its doors; Leith’s first whisky distillery in over one hundred years and the UK’s first vertical distillery. Visits to both distilleries comes highly recommended!
