24th July was an improved night in Burntisland with 476 of 110 species but considering the excellent weather conditions this was still well below par especially for numbers. 22 NFY among them but nothing too exciting. 3/3.

28th July was finally a good night for trapping in the garden with 824 of 130 species, diversity was about where I would expect but numbers still down on what I would expect. No NFG for weeks now, well seems to have run a dry on that front. 13 NFY, garden year list now 348. 1/2.

575 of 108 31/07 Burntisland. NFG was Carcina quercana, garden list moves to 640. Nine NFY in total bringing garden year list to 357. By comparison, the last two years the end of July running species totals have been 395 and 416 which reinforces how poor this year has been. 1/2

Decent overnight conditions 01/08 in Burntisland resulted in 877 of 121, 11 NFY. Diversity OK but numbers still below par. This may well be the last 'big night' of the year here now, a year in which there have only been a miserly handful of well below par 'big nights'. 1/3

2nd August in Burntisland the temperature dropped away quickly in the night and the resultant total of 468 of 89 species was expectedly disappointing. Nonetheless four useful NFY added so worth lighting up.

4th August was a warm but wet night in Burntisland with 11mm rain and more during the evening before. I had thought it might be decent but the rain before dark must have put a dampener on the moths and only 408 of 83 showed up including 4 NFY.

Just like many I'm slowly transitioning to Bluesky. Similar handle scorpion-nv. I shall be astounded however if that is of any real interest to anyone!
