Why do school teachers make students memorise the first 20 elements? Why 20? At least stopping at 18 (Ar) would make sense. Why go all the way to Ca, stopping just 2 elements into a completely new period? Misses the whole point of the PT. /rant #ozchem #ChemEd

I start with 10% the volume of the bottle of 0.1 M silver nitrate. For 100 mL AgNOā‚ƒ, add 2 M ammonia until the initial precipitate redissolves (~8 mL), add 15 mL 2 M KOH, then NHā‚ƒ again to dissolve the new precipitate (~10 mL) then add 30 mL 5% glucose. Excess NHā‚ƒ slows it.
