Great discussion on Today with Claire Byrne regarding the negatives of astro pitches! SDCC please leave the biodiversity of Knocklyon Park alone and spend the money on other, wanted sports facilities. Even the local GAA club don't want an astro here!

Not just #microplastics but #macroplastics to worry about! It shouldn't shock that synthetic, unrecyclable plastics brushed full of used tyre waste are polluting, but it's shocking they're still being installed- even on existing grass pitches! SDCC !

What a day for Knocklyon Park! The Astro Part 8 has been REJECTED and our beloved park is safe! Thanks to the 1000s who raised submissions (99.7% against this!) + marched, + our local Cllrs who ensured this was rejected + the wishes of park users + residents won out!! 🦇🦡🦔
