Ditching cars for short journeys and instead riding bikes or walking would massively boost the economy. £27 billion is lost to obesity. theguardian.com/society/2023/j…

There was an accident. But this is typical on this narrow street. Yesterday pm rat run tail backs from A2 to church. Same night before. Last Thurs police attended on assault between van drivers because of gridlock. When LTN was in, Emergency Services & cabs were unrestricted.

Senior school kids being kids, chattering away stepping off of narrow pavements absentmindedly while speeding cut through traffic passed them in West Greenwich. 🫣

Just now, we were repeatedly sworn at by a van driver for crossing the pedestrian crossing on Crooms Hill too slowly. 🤔 He was so put out at having to stop at the ped crossing that he stopped traffic just to make sure we got the message. 🤔🤔

7:40am today in West Greenwich by Greenwich Theatre. Constant stream of cut through traffic. No train strike, no road works, no traffic incidents on surrounding main roads. Last chance to feed into Royal Borough of Greenwich ‘East & West Traffic’ consultation. Closes today 5pm.

Enjoy the last day of Easter break (inset) for local West Greenwich primary & secondary schools kids! For those who do not return until next Monday, it’s a perfect time to visit the blossoms! #GreenwichPark🌸

Amazing to see Blackwall Tunnel, surrounding roads & Greenwich Town Centre relatively clear at this time of day. Creek Rd closed in a single direction for many more weeks. Some kids off school for another week. 🚦This is what reduced traffic overall looks and feels like.

Unbelievably quiet on Woolwich/ Trafalgar Rd & town centre all week (clip today 5pm). Is this due to Creek Rd closure one-way? Fewer road works (such a mess in the run up to Easter)? Some kids off so fewer school runs? Whatever it is, reduced traffic making it better for all.

Despite the unpredictable traffic pattern impacts of the ongoing Creek Rd one-way closure, this still happens on the narrow residential streets of West Greenwich.

In the 6 Autumn/Winter months when Greenwich Park closes early, this West Greenwich street becomes a de facto North-South extension of C4. In normal levels of traffic when Creek Rd is fully open, vans are constantly pushing cyclists onto the curb.
