A recent paper, link below, correctly identifies the true danger from AI - gradual disempowerment of our species and becoming irrelevant. The relentless nature of shareholder value will ensure this future unless we redefine value to include humanity as well. Our current systems

I hope everyone is realising just how much we are and will be suffering as a species from this turn of OpenAI away from AI for humanity to AI for profit. Everything they are saying and doing now is for shareholder value, humanity is not even in the math anymore. They have

Tsarathustra It's truly sickening to see our future sold to investors like this. We will live with the consequences of OpenAI's actions and it has literally altered our timeline to a dystopian future.

The real question to address is why does all this need to happen? It's because the cost to society of human displacement is never in the equations of shareholder value gains. Perhaps for each person who is let go, companies should be taxed? To pay the social costs of doing so?

Santiago Once things become about the money, then everything is manoeuvres for maximum benefit. No doubt we are being played by everyone. It's all a big con game. Wouldn't it have been great had OpenAI stayed true to its original mission. Things may have been different

Sam starts his blog post with the following: "Our mission is to ensure that AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) benefits all of humanity." I want to believe him. But how when it comes from a CEO now driven by shareholder value? There is a huge difference between stakeholders

After a nearly 4 month walk about hiatus I am finally back to the sanity / insanity of X. Had to share Rohan Paul superb thread highlighting key points from a 340 page report put out by BOND. In my many years through the internet, mobile, cloud eras I've never seen

This is the real crux of the argument on AI. It's about those in charge wanting to be more in control. Can't deny the logic, and the creation of the new us vs them paradigm... Human nature is the enemy of Man, AI is just the enabler....
