I just love Bear Review, so it's a lovely feeling to have 2 poems in the spring issue! Thanks to Marcus Myers & the editorial team for including me. Here's "We Will Find out Very Shortly" & enjoy the entire issue here, w/ work from so many stellar poets: bearreview.com/11-2

I find myself consistently revisiting The Master because of Philip Seymour Hoffman & Joaquin Phoenix. PTA’s filmmaking here is tremendous, but the performances are unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Hoffman & Phoenix embody everything it means to be an actor in this film.

Elif Batuman wrote this amazing essay for N+1 called ‘Short Story and Novel’ that was a takedown of a huge swath of the (then) contemporary lit scene, and in the alternatives she champions instead (which should always be done alongside a broad attack!) she really cracked Murakami

Really enjoyed this Preeti Vangani Detail befitting a novel. But also, I thought, just the perfect length. My congratulations on such a deeply felt story. Rumpus Original Fiction: Second of April therumpus.net/2025/06/02/sec… via @the_rumpus

Bolaño's huge novels like 2666 and The Savage Detectives are glorious, but this wonderful edition of his collected stories show him as a great master of the short form too. He knows so well the beauty and strangeness of words, the power and possibility of language, of literature.

ً If you're not going to do your homework you're only allowed to do something more awful, not more fun. Clean the toilets, scrub the tub, mop the floor, take out the trash, do dishes and laundry, exercise, pay bills. Don't slack. Work up a sweat.
