28 years ago today, a handful of internet pioneers gathered in a room in Rosebank, Joburg to form ISPA, the internet industry assoc of SA. The two goals ISPA's founders set were to fight against monopoly practices in the internet space, & to enable local peering between networks.

Today, ISPA's autonomous INX-ZA division operates internet exchanges across four provinces, while ISPA's membership division continues to lobby actively for competitive, consumer-friendly practices in the fibre & wireless internet access space. Happy 28th birthday, ISPA!
