NEW: We secured $9.5 million in workers’ rights enforcement actions in the past year, including three record settlements. DC has strong worker protections, but they require enforcement. Our 2024 Labor Day Report details how we uphold worker rights in DC: oag.dc.gov/sites/default/…

In DC, workers are guaranteed: ✅ A $17.50 minimum wage ✅ Paid family leave ✅ Paid sick and safe leave ✅ Wage transparency ✅ Strong protections against wage theft, noncompete clauses, and misclassification. OAG will continue to uphold these critical worker protections.

My alma mater, Barnard College, has not only abandoned a commitment to academic freedom, it has signed up to be part of the McCarthy-ite thought police. Tragically, this post would get me disciplined at Barnard College.

Some personal news: I’m running for the New Jersey General Assembly! I’m running to speak truth to power, fight for those who feel forgotten by their representatives, and to bring the fight for affordable housing to the State House. Let’s do this!

Corporate lawlessness is everywhere--junk fees, misclassification, predatory lending, collusion, monopolies, algorithmic surveillance, abusive debt collection, and more--behind the majority of those abuses is a forced arbitration clause that insulates it from attack.

(2/2) I am proud to announce my transit policy proposal for the future of Jersey City. We will double down on Vision Zero. Reliable, improved PATH and NJ Transit service will be my top demand from Trenton. Check out my full plan by clicking the link in bio.

NEW: We are suing Talea Ristorante and its owner for ruthlessly exploiting their workers. They steal workers' wages, deny overtime and paid sick leave, and harass and fire staff who speak out. OAG will always protect DC workers and ensure all businesses play by the same rules.

AG Brian Schwalb (@dcattorneygen) 's Twitter Profile Photo

NEW: We are suing Cloakroom, an adult entertainment venue in DC, for flagrant employment and civil rights violations. Female employees are routinely subjected to sexual harassment and abuse. Cloakroom workers also face systematic wage theft, tip theft, and retaliation.

NEW: DeliverThat denied its drivers the lawful minimum wage, overtime, and paid sick leave in an illegal worker misclassification scheme. Now, it will pay $100,000, reclassify DC drivers as employees, and ditch forced arbitration clauses. Real work deserves real protections.

AG Brian Schwalb (@dcattorneygen) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Notably, our settlement requires Deliver That to rescind its forced arbitration clauses. Forced arbitration clauses prevent workers from bringing claims in court when their rights are violated. They silence workers and shield companies from public accountability for wrongdoing.

Jim McGreevey is looking more and more like Cuomo by the day. This campaign is surging, and it's because voters want change from the politics of the past. James Solomon is the change candidate in this race.

We are suing to block the federal government takeover of DC police. By illegally declaring a takeover of MPD, the Administration is abusing its temporary, limited authority under the law. This is the gravest threat to Home Rule DC has ever faced, and we are fighting to stop it.
