Ready for Term 2 in P1HS stjosephsprimary. We have a new book to enjoy with lots of activities. Day 1 was story time & tuff tray play. We look forward to exploring wow words in this book, making an owl with pine cones & story sequencing 🦉 🍂🍁

First week of Term 2 & P1HS have a new favourite book - Owl Babies. A week of fun activities. We read the story each day, drew our first story map, enjoyed Draw with Rob, Eugene the Owl, playdough mats, handprints & tuff trays full of leaves, sticks & pinecones. stjosephsprimary 🦉

P1HS stjosephsprimary had a fun afternoon celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week. Today was ‘Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes’. We also learned the words in Scots. Thank you Mrs S. Action songs, singing, celebrating languages across our class & of course art. 🎵 #WorldNurseryRhymeWeek

Our little P1 engineers stjosephsprimary have been building Aberdeen with blocks & lots of material. Learning about our local area, our community & people who help us. Lots of fun recognising city landmarks too. Floor books to record pupils voice & fab ideas 💭

Phonics is always fun in P1HS stjosephsprimary We have been learning about Fix it Max in Letterland & a plastic skeleton joined us in class! We learned about bones, x-rays & how our body moves. Lolly pop sticks & black paper made the perfect x-ray activity. We read Funnybones too 🩻

A fun Friday in P1HS stjosephsprimary we had fine motor skills activities, science with Duck, P7 buddies to help make finger mice for Hickory Dickory Dock which we have learned using BSL & story time at the end. Learning is always fun in P1 🦆 🐭

P1HS stjosephsprimary have a weekend challenge to protect Humpty Dumpty. They were delighted with their egg to take home & decorate first. Our ‘wow’ word was gravity. The class have been enjoying nursery rhymes this term & we have even included our P7 buddies. 🥚📚🩹

P1HS stjosephsprimary have enjoyed reading The Rainbow Fish this week. A beautiful story about friendship & kindness. Today we had a fish themed day! Rainbow Fish stained glass art, fishing for common words, tuff trays, books, word mats & drawing our favourite characters. 🐠 🐟 📖

Our Nursery children joined P1HS stjosephsprimary for their second transition session. As we continue on our journey, Going on a Bear Hunt, we explored ‘where’ the family and bear live. Blankets, bears, books and bundles of fun. Cave building in class. 📖 🐻

P1HS had a fun morning measuring items. Blocks, numicon, rulers and desks. The challenge table - measure a dinosaur! Lots of problem solving & discussion. Quite a few giggles too! Maths is amazing 🧮 stjosephsprimary

P1 have been making Fairy Bread as part of their instructional writing. Such fun as we all had an afternoon picnic in class. Maths language, literacy, vocabulary, science but most importantly time together as a class family as we approach the end of term stjosephsprimary

P2HS stjosephsprimary have enjoyed a term full of bears! Learning about Paddington, listening to stories, building London landmarks, patience with split pins, showing Paddington around the school, finding Peru on a map and of course…enjoying marmalade sandwiches 🥪 🐻

P2 stjosephsprimary completed their novel - Esio Trot. We celebrated with The Critter Keeper visiting our class. All beasties were safely checked when leaving! Lots of curious children. A love of literacy for the summer term.
