For Boomers and Gen Xers, Islamophobia has always been the permissible bigotry that cuts across ideological lines, and they’re absolutely enraged by the fact that the younger generations don’t share their pet bigotries.

I will never forget someone in school proudly admitting they are afraid of flying with muslims. The teacher didn’t check them or anything. It’s absolutely abhorrent. Islamophobia is served with nationalism so folks have extra pride in their hatred.
