Special Kempton memories in no particular order. Seeing Queen (the band) there, just enjoying A Day At The Races. First ever lady jockeys race. Fred Winter riding the winner of a charity race, and that's without the likes of Pendil & Desert Orchid 😊

When I attended Cheltenham as a boy back in the 70s I was smuggled into the course in my mum's handbag, which wasn't easy as I was over 6ft then.

I did attend a 12-race jumps fixture at Warwick back in 1975. They ran five races just after midday, then had a break so people could listen to or watch West Ham beat Fulham 2-0 in the Cup Final, then they ran the other seven races in the evening. Quite a day!

If it's widely considered that the Flat season ends at Ascot today, isn't that a bit of a slap in the face for the sponsors of the Vertem Futurity, St Simon Stakes, Horris Hill, etc?

According to my calculations, the going on the Lingfield Polytrack on Thursday was slowing the horses down by 20 lengths per mile. That's the slowest there since my records began at the start of 2018.

The classic trials at Newbury are rightly receiving plenty of scrutiny and rightly so, but last year the two maidens on the card were won by Economics and Hidden Law respectively. I wonder what awaits us today?

Can't believe it's that long since my first visit to York on August 15th 1972. I can remember it like it was yesterday. Roberto v Brigadier Gerard was very memorable, but the highlight for me was having a few pence on Crazy Rhythm in the Ebor the following day 😀

In the dark depths of my memory I seem to remember the second meeting shown alongside Doncaster for the ITV 7 was at Fakenham. I think I remember a horse call Downing Arms winning a hurdle under Gordon Holmes? Could be wrong.
