In UK there is a steady increase in SARS CoV2 cases in the last 20 days. Sequencing, vaccination status and variants results are not out yet. Hospitalizations are rising there too. 2-3% of cases are sick enough for hospital care. Quarantine and control of movement is needed.

Great news, the vaccines work. See how very very few of over 65year in Ireland got SARS CoV2 in last 2 weeks. hpsc.ie/a-z/respirator…

In the face of the unknown an other way forwards for Ireland: cautiously open ventilated spaced-out in-door hospitality, and agree to more social distancing again if SARS CoV2 7-day average cases here rise over 1000 per day. And vaccinate us ASAP.

So far, a good outcome for COVID19 population health in Ireland, just 1 in 4000 excess deaths in 2020-2021 here, compared to 1 in 400 in UK and shocking 1 in 70 of people dead in Bolivia, based on Wang et al. from Seattle in the Lancet thelancet.com/journals/lance…

I loved Sarah Moss’s poetic memoirs- she does for anorexia what A Beautiful Mind does for schizophrenia and A Curious Incident does for ASD
