I am SO excited to host this tomorrow with Nicole M James. We've got some GREAT questions lined up for the panel. The first part of the session will be pre-selected questions and the second will be an open discussion. Can't wait! #CER #ChemEd

While long range planning feels pretty terrifying these days, I am organizing next year's BCCE 5k fun run (exactly 1 year from today!) so if you're feeling optimistic and have any thoughts re: food, shirts, course, prizes etc. Please let me know!

OK, Twitter, look - it's time to have a talk. I've been seeing a lot of climate despair on here lately, and I understand it's cathartic to voice your deepest fears, but at this point in time, that despair is also a self-fulfilling prophecy. I work for an environmental charity- 1/

With the help of MIT Facilities and MIT EHS, the Department of Chemistry is now able to safely put 58 of the fume hoods in our Undergraduate Teaching Lab into "hibernation mode" when they're not in use, drastically reducing energy costs. chemistry.mit.edu/chemistry-news…

Our group is interested to know what jobs/careers members of the DBER community hold. So we thought why not just ask! We've created a survey for people to share information about their jobs which we will compile into a google spreadsheet. The link is posted in a comment below!

The SU chem department is wonderful! Awesome colleagues and students. I am so grateful for my time there. I miss it! Please share if you know someone who is looking for a great student-centered place to teach.

Here’s how Dems can + must do more than wait for an election. Let’s start w/ why: - 7 of the 9 justices were appointed by a party that hasn’t won a popular vote more than once in 30 years - 1 of those seats was stolen - Several lied to Congress to secure their appointment…

I'm running against an Anti-Choice Dem here in MA. People are always surprised when we say this at the doors, so let’s set the record straight. Here is a thread on how he voted when the main provisions of ROE were introduced in MA in 2020. 🧵#mapoli

Our planet is on fire, and this extremist Supreme Court has destroyed the federal government’s ability to fight back. This radical Supreme Court is increasingly facing a legitimacy crisis, and we can't let them have the last word.

Undoing Roe is awful. Kneecapping environmental regulation is existential. This Supreme Court has just come down on the side of civilizational collapse.

Every DEI talk should be given by someone who has history w/ the institution. chanda.bsky.social prescod-weinstein using her MIT shutdownchem keynote to unflinchingly call out past, present, and (especially) future racism at MIT with specific anecdotes from her time at MIT is powerful. Also - buy her book

Just had a colleague say that our time working together was "brief but notably congenial" and that might be my new goal for all interactions.

My first and last days at The Institute. 3 years, a pandemic, and lots of learning later I am leaving MIT. Onwards and upwards. First to #BCCE2022 (Boiler up!) and then incredibly excited to head to SNHU On Campus as an Assistant Professor this fall!

Learning a new LMS less than a week before classes start got a lot more exciting when I discovered that the growth and goals module from Alison Flynn is specifically formatted for said LMS!! Looking forward to trying it out!
