Yesterday our Y5s went to 2 different churches (St Leonard’s CofE church and Sacred Heart Roman Catholic church) to observe how Christians worship, looking at similarities and differences within the two buildings. It was interesting to make comparisons within the same religion.

We are SO proud of this wonderful young lady who has represented the school in a climbing competition and won the whole thing! She does a lot of climbing outside school as well as benefiting from the rich PE curriculum offered here at school which includes climbing.

The counting has finished and we are pleased to announce our school community raised a staggering £1072.51 for #childreninneed on Friday. We thank everyone for their big hearts and their huge generosity.

It’s been an intense day of CPD and planning with staff from St Leonard’s C of E Primary School in Exeter. Art schemes can provide a good basis for teaching but be prepared and be bold to change tack if you can think of even better approaches.

Some lovely activities set up in our #EYFS #provision this morning linked to their current story. Children are encouraged to use the new vocabulary they've learnt through explicit teaching in Drawing Club when it comes to their own oral retelling of the story.

Year 6 loved immersing themselves in their history unit last week, spending the day dressed as Ancient Greeks and participating in all sorts of fun activities.

A really rewarding day spent with the staff of St Leonard’s School. Great to see teachers undertaking a bold and reflective approach but their eyes firmly fixed on creating great pieces of art work. Absolutely love the Year 3 project inspired by a local artist.

Lots of cooking happening for our children today. EYFS are making scones with our parent volunteer and professional baker who comes in and cooks with them weekly. Meanwhile Y6 are cooking their main course of a 3 course meal in a DT unit looking at Farm to Fork.

Year 4 have been working like scientists today, making the most of the outdoor environment. They have been looking for invertebrates, taking notes and classifying the animals further using classification keys. Great work from our young scientists!

Year 5 have been studying the artist Tan Zi Xi, a climate artist. They have explored how climate change artists create art to get an important message across to society before creating individual pieces of artwork to contribute to an installation based on Zi Xi’s Plastic Ocean.

Our Year 1s have been producing some incredible abstract art inspired by the work of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. Don't they look fantastic!? #beatrizmilhazes #abstractart #artists

Our youngest children had an exciting trip to Bear Town this week where they were able to immerse themselves in role play, developing their imaginative play, back and forth conversations and communication and language. #EYFS #playbasedlearning

Talk about an engaging #PE #curriculum - Y6 enjoyed their second Mixed Martial Arts session today with Exeter Self Defence Academy. By providing a broad range of sports, we hope that every child will find something they enjoy.

Finishing off a busy week with a great opportunity for children to develop their understanding of the democratic process. Our very own MP Steve Race MP 💙💛 spoke to our children about his role advocating for Exeter on a national level. There was plenty of time for Qs too!

Thanks to all the pupils at St Leonard's Primary for all your fantastic questions - I had a great time, and hope you enjoyed “bobbing” for questions like we do in parliament!

A great start to Cycle to School Week promoting healthy lifestyle habits - we've had to make lots of extra space for all the bikes to be stored! Later in the week, we have a representative for British Cycling coming in to further motivate and inspire the children. 🚲
