"If you could go back in time one year, what would you do differently?" A depressing question, because it's about black lines. Instead, imagine yourself answering that question a year from now. You probably know many of the answers. And those lines are all still bright green.

Three key things EVERYONE needs to know: 1. This is still just merest beginnings of climate breakdown 2. It's irreversible, best we can do is halt it at whatever level it gets to 3. It's caused by the fossil fuel industry, which has been lying and blocking action for decades

There is a non-zero probability that World War 3 can be initiated or averted due to a few tweets. I may be wrong, but I believe this platform is powerful and our behavior on it is important. Let's try to de-escalate. Empathy, reason, and compassion are needed now more than ever.

A well paid job. A nice car. A big house. A luxury holiday. The things we’ve been told our whole life to strive for are the things driving our life support systems toward collapse. #Degrowth means striving for goals that enable humans to keep on living on this planet.

If we ended industrial animal agriculture, there'd suddenly be more than enough food for everyone, we'd essentially end animal cruelty, no one would die, and we'd take a huge bite out of the climate and ecological emergency. We could do this basically overnight.

A few personal notes: I was just at a NASA team meeting for 3 days in DC. The scientific findings are so fucked up. Experts on tropical rainforests told me privately that they think the Amazon has already passed its tipping point. Let that sink in. The world needs to know

Sometimes it feels like the world has all gone mad. I like to explore ideas, varied perspectives, historical context, all with calm intellectual humility. But people online want me to "pick a side" and to be outraged. Nah. I'll keep doing my thing. You do you. Love you all ❤

Slow down and remember this: Most things make no difference. Being busy is a form of laziness—lazy thinking and indiscriminate action. Being overwhelmed is often as unproductive as doing nothing, and is far more unpleasant. Being selective—doing less—is the path of the

I've long said we're at risk of losing essentially everything due to global heating - all of modern life, much of life on Earth, billions of human lives, our super habitable planet. More and more climate scientists are coming to see this. Please start listening

People who believe those on the far left represent the very opposite of those on the far right can aptly be called "political flat earthers."
