I will never understand why student curriculums include so many different ways to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide instead of focusing on the most effective ways. Granted, teaching may require various approaches, but they should not be forced on students.

Isn't this too late? I am a volunteer academic tutor with a focus on Durham. I have created a College Planning Workshop aimed at freshmen/sophomores and their families. For those interested, please reach out. Waiting until junior or senior year likely is too late.

That goes for adults, too. Many adults in my life are none too pleased when I think for myself. I try to put them in my past or work around them if I can benefit my students by doing such.

This is such a serious problem in the city where I tutor. Students quickly lose interest in learning when they are unable to read homework questions, homework assignments, etc. It affects math problems, too. Yet they are being promoted with acceptable grades.
