I'm all in on var in both C# and Java. I find that the less boilerplate code you need to read, the easier it is to follow what is going on and using var definitely helps there.

As an aspiring brain scientist, my project was to discover the brain implementation of Opponent Colors Theory, the accepted explanation of color appearance. It took 20 yrs of trying (& failing) to find the corresponding neurophysiology, to realize the theory is wrong #color 1/8

This is a good presentation about optimizing performance. Contains only one low level optimization (pack hash key to 64 bit int). Optimizing code isn't about SIMD or multithreading. It's understanding what you are doing. youtu.be/5rb0vvJ7NCY

Have you seen this floating around the Internet? It's from a book of mine. And, we just dropped a sequel: kickstarter.com/projects/weine… (please spread the word!)

I was hoping to have this book finished by SIGGRAPH, but I've decided to take a little longer to do everything right without being rushed. The book is turning out to be amazing, and it will definitely be worth the wait. I will have some preview materials available at SIGGRAPH.

Is there a good word or term for a number that is in [0...1]? For example what should I name a method parameter that interpolates over a curve? curve.getPosition(u) where u is in [0..1]? #gamedev #programming. Just calling it u makes me feel like a mathematician :P.

8/8 I cannot contain my excitement. It feels like January of 2020 with a huge wave coming that no one realizes yet, but in a much better way. What a time to be alive!! Check out the original paper: arxiv.org/abs/2307.12008

The alternate definition of the verb, ‘tweet’, as in, ‘to make a posting on the Twitter online message service’, is in the actual dictionary. No other social media app has anything like it. Imagine disposing of that level of brand recognition because of a mid-life crisis.

National Lab (LBNL) results support LK-99 as a room-temperature ambient-pressure superconductor. Simulations published 1 hour ago on arxiv support LK-99 as the holy grail of modern material science and applied physics. (arxiv.org/abs/2307.16892) Here's the plain-english

Jolt Physics got soft body physics today! There's still a lot of performance optimizations to be done, but you can start playing around with it! github.com/jrouwe/JoltPhy…
