i hate that dudes like jacob are making the rest of media look bad. i’m 5’5” w/ zero athleticism, but i put my blood sweat and tears into telling athlete stories with compassion & curiosity, and obsessively learning about the game so i can promote and celebrate it as it deserves

i get why athletes feel this way, but i really don’t think you need to have played the game at a high level to cover it at a high level. in fact, many former high level athletes are some of the worst examples of media we have. it’s all about passion, empathy, & a desire to learn
