There is no deadline, no timeline, no 'future peak' - every single decision today from the powerful and the rich that leads to stable or rising emissions, instead of falling emissions, is an act that will end up causing pain, suffering and death for the people around you #IPCC

Compiled by Vatan Hüzeir, the latest cache of internal documents describing Big Oil's concealed knowledge of global warming is a gold mine. One bombshell is a confidential Shell scenario report from 1989 which imagined two futures: SUSTAINABLE WORLD and GLOBAL MERCANTILISM 🧵

The US sold 918,000 new EV last year, representing new annual electricity demand of about 3.67 TWh. Yet the US also created 96 TWh of fresh electricity last year entirely from new wind+solar. Our clean power growth swamps new EV demand. More in tomorrow's @TheGregorLetter

I'm updating my Climate Change lectures and it's hard not to get emotional reading the IPCC AR6 WG1 Report. This is the deciding decade and we're not making the right decisions.

So, Cdn Oil Sands co's are paying Google so if someone searches federal climate policy or climate change they get industry misinformation Pathways to Net Zero and these same company emissions are single largest reason Canada can't meet our climate targets?! 🤦‍♀️ desmog.com/2023/04/05/oil…

it’s amazing that people can’t get it into their heads that without the planets health we are dead. Fuck all matters as much because there will be fuck all at the rate we are going. We are amidst a collective insanity. It is absolutely fucking insane theguardian.com/environment/20…

Back in 1985, Carl Sagan told Congress that continuing to burn fossil fuels will increase global temperature, cause climate change, melt glaciers and ice sheets, and cause sea level rise. His solution: Fewer government subsidies for fossil fuels and use of renewable energy.

"Climate change is reducing the amount of carbon the trees fix and likely has cascading effects on how much carbon they can provide to their ectomycorrhizal fungi," This is a huge deal. We lose the fungi, we lose the forests. We lose it all. phys.org/news/2023-09-t…

16 We don't need new technologies: we have everything we need to scale-up climate action. We just need to deploy existing technologies faster and on a larger scale, while continuing to decrease their costs

Today is the last day of coal powered electricity in Denmark. Block 3 at the Esbjerg plant will close down today. At its peak it used 500.000 tonnes per year, emitting 1,2 million tonnes of CO2 yearly. A good day for the climate 😊
