Amuses me when people think problems have simple and instantaneous solutions but also think the cause of those problems is 10, 20 or 40+ years in the making (see repeal of 1947 Town and Country Planning Act for example)

Not exactly a model for a representative democracy though. Surely the ambition should be to get MPs who can serve in Cabinet… and as a party who would need a lot new MPs anyway to form a government you’ve got a unique opportunity there

Arguments like this rely on the idea the PRS isn’t already broken. Over a 30 year period we’ve proven unequivocally that the PRS is not the answer to the housing crisis - trying a new approach might be overdue.

Today, at the eisteddfod #steddfod2025, we're launching a manifesto to rebuild Wales' broken housing system. Here are some colleagues explaining why they'll be voting for home at the #SeneddElection next year. Home is everything. Vote for it. #VoteForHome bit.ly/3H4Qydo

Big day at the eisteddfod talking to people about what home means to them and officially ‘launching’ our Senedd Election manifesto calling on all parties in Wales to commit to fixing the housing emergency

This is a remarkable achievement. Huge credit to all involved for making it happen as hotel TA is one of the most significant challenges we face in housing today.

I'll be back in Shelter Cymru colours (and maybe the tutu & moustache) for Oysho Cardiff Half 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Marathon. If you can help this brilliant charity continue its vital fight against poor #housing and #homelessness, here's the link. Thank you! justgiving.com/page/andrew-we… #oldmanrunning

One of these is calling to bring back mass PDR conversions… a policy that led to the development of human warehouses to profit off homelessness and the delivery of ‘homes’ that didn’t even have windows. Sure it’s quick and easy to do - but a terrible idea.

“People need a prosperous rental market because they are buying homes later in life” imagine the delusion needed to not realise the wild, unregulated growth in buy to let landlords alongside extortionate rents isn’t a literal reason people have to wait longer to buy

I agree that a lot of YIMBYs see it through an ownership lens. It’s one of the reasons they’ve struggled to see social housing campaigners as anything other than a problem - something that’s quite sad and hasn’t reflected well on them in my opinion

Staffing an eisteddfod stand for a week isn’t easy as a charity, but the fact Shelter Cymru manages it is testament to how the entire organisation is committed to building the coalition needed to end the housing emergency in Wales

I don't begrudge JD Vance a holiday, and clearly this security is needed. But he probably could have chosen to visit somewhere more suitable and less disruptive... there's a real element of selfishness to this.

Access to high quality legal advice should be available to everyone. Cuts to legal aid and advice services have made that harder and all those shouting about two tier justice should logically commit to reversing them at a minimum
