People need to realize there are so many more parenting techniques than hitting your kids + yelling at them and permissive parenting. Techniques that actually work with your child’s developmental stages and psychology so you’re not disciplining your child for just being a kid.

Assembling a list of all the notable homeschooling leaders, parents, and alumni who committed criminal abuse is interesting. It's interesting because there are so many. It's almost like it's the norm and not the exception. 🤔

Training children to unthinkingly obey authority figures & pretend cheerfulness trains them in something all right, but perhaps not a long game goal. It also trains parents up in a kind of functional narcissistic parenting. 🧵

Disobedience is not death. Disobedience is what saved Baby Moses. Disobedience led to the Magna Carta. Disobedience is what created the United States. Disobedience is what brought forth civil rights. And so on and so forth.

All you’re doing is conditioning an autonomic response, not teaching obedience. You’re training emotional manipulation not resilience. You’re training children to automatically fawn or freeze to a person with perceived authority with an learned demand to please them Link 👇

I feel the same way about including Josh Harris in Season Two of "Shiny Happy People" as I did about including Alex Harris in Season One: in media about harmful legacies, you shouldn't platform people who have not fully wrestled with and owned their harmful legacies.

PSA (pun intended): Telling a group of children (or a group of anyone else, for that matter) that they “deserve to die” is unhinged behavior, and it doesn’t magically become less unhinged because you’re doing it in a gospel presentation.

"I wouldn't let her leave with the kids. She said it was abuse. I think the porn was my biggest problem." ...red flags all over this conversation.

"A significant problem that hinders the regulation of homeschooling to defend children is the legal system’s view of children as non-autonomous humans and the property of their parents." adamramer.com/2025/07/06/a-d…
