On this day in 1948 the aircraft carrier HNLMS Karel Doorman was commissioned. It was the last carrier of the Royal Netherlands navy and stayed in service until 1968. Originally there were plans for three carriers.😳

Sneak Peak. First time running across actual aircraft video in the archives with audio and it's flightline...at carswell I believe. If not I have more footage from there. I'm collaborating with a YT rockstar on this bird so you'll see more soon. 😎

Some great looks at B-36 and friends flying around Fort Worth, TX as well as some flightline activity going on at Carswell Air Force Base. The more I see of this bird the more I like it. Stay Tuned for more awesomeness around the B-36.😎

During the final cruise of the Audacious-class aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal in 1978, the crew held a mock funeral in which the wardroom piano was lauched from the bow catapult and buried at sea. The piano hit 104 knots as it went over the end of the flight deck. #FunFactFriday

The brand new HMS Invincible passes the old Ark Royal at Devonport in 1980. I know the old RO9 was knackered but it's such a wonderful and enduring "what if" of the Falklands War.
