Sayers ole Meadow was an arable field 17 years ago. It is now a mega diverse, structurally complex, hay meadow full of all sorts of locally rare plants. No seeding. Just abandonment & annual August mowing. A great example of nature-led recovery BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland Floodplain Meadows Partnership

Very important paper led by Prof. Julian R. Thompson predicting how climate change will affect floodplain wetland hydrology, soil moisture & associated plants. It focuses on a v. well studied middle @riverglaven site subjected to flood embankment removal Norfolk Rivers Trust The Wild Trout Trust

A great day yesterday with the brill Norfolk Flora Group in an upper Glaven Conservation patch associated with the Cromer ridge. All sorts of species found & a great finish in N. Norfolk's most highly rated pub Red Hart @Jo_the_botanist

Remember that nutrient neutrality is not *ecological effects of nutrients neutrality*. With time, even if nutrient concentrations are constant, there will be ecological decline in waters. Reductions in nutrient concentrations are urgently needed

A beautiful shallow upper River Glaven lake received a massive & damaging wash off of silt from the VolkerFitzpatrick Ørsted UK cable works today. This fine sediment will move downstream harming endangered white-clawed crayfish & much else. We need ACTION NOW EnvAgencyAnglia

The results of last nights torrential rain. Our meadow now has a blanket of silt and goodness knows what from the fields, roads and Holt Sewage Works. We work hard to manage this meadow ☹️🦋🐛🕷️🦗🐝🦇🌱🌼 Anglian Water Norfolk Rivers Trust Glaven Conservation Glaven Eel

The formerly wonderful, near pristine Selbrigg Pond Glaven Conservation today after a big sediment runoff event associated with the VolkerFitzpatrick Ørsted Ørsted UK works last week. The great loves of my life are being destroyed. This lake will take a long time to recover. ANSWERS?

1/2: The River Glaven is being destroyed by sediment runoff from the VolkerFitzpatrick Ørsted UK Ørsted cable works. The river, its flood meadows & lakes are all smothered in soil from last Tuesday. We don't expect our rare white-clawed crayfish to have survived EnvAgencyAnglia

The river has been too deep below the mill at Glandford to check the habitat traps but I was able to get there in chest waders this morning to find two healthy elvers on their way upstream. ⁦Glaven Eel⁩ ⁦Glaven Conservation
