This is definitely worth watching. The kind of fearless push-back to the “we should tax cyclists” false narrative (spoiler: we do tax people on bikes, even through they actually save us public money) that we need a lot more of.

No it’s not. you can’t ride your bike on it. And the City of Vancouver doesn’t want you to. Take your second class ass to 10th. I’ll see you there.

Given the apparent success of the pilot, it would seem necessary to continue it, especially in the winter season where it is important to actually draw more people down there.

Speaking of letting down Vancouverites: The mayor and ABC *literally* made the irrational decision not to grow and expand park space when they rejected the 30 year West End Waterfront vision. Instead, opting to get rid of greenspace and a plaza for more cars and congestion 🚗🌬️

Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.” It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was last there. Just a few years ago, #Paris was choking in car traffic much more. This is new. This is leadership. Cities are a result of choices. HT Fouad Khayat

This kind of small-scale retail, cafe/restaurant or service should be legal on every corner in cities/suburbs. A basic part of walkable communities. They aren’t easy financially, but at least they should be legal. In plans I’m working on, I’m calling them “corner convenience.”

The most ambitious car-free scheme on the continent, Montréal pedestrianized 11 commercial arteries—totaling 9.4 km—in seven boroughs this summer. A pandemic-era initiative pushed by business leaders, they have quickly become cherished destinations for locals and tourists alike.

Indeed. I wonder if our leaders will ever learn from facts. Facts that have been established long ago. It’s baffling.

This is a very dangerous crossing I make twice a day, every day. Drivers running reds happens often. It needs to be addressed.

Here’s Kris Kristofferson talking about a Bob Dylan tribute concert at MSG in 1992 where Sinéad O’Connor was getting booed after ripping up a photo of the Pope on SNL and he was asked to get her off the stage. He refused. “Don’t let the bastards get you down.” RIP to an icon

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. Politician claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data. Great, @citynewsTO. toronto.citynews.ca/video/2024/10/…
