I just contacted my reps (Richard Blumenthal Sen. Murphy Office Rep. Joe Courtney) to advocate for continued full support for the BRAIN Initiative. For a #NewPI like myself, this funding is CRITICAL! It took 5 minutes thanks to this tool from Society for Neuroscience (SfN): sfn.org/Advocacy/Advoc…
As a #NewPI reviewing a flawed manuscript, I make sure not only identify the flaws but suggest ways they might be remedied in revision. I'm guessing the length and rigor of reviews decays exponentially with time on the job 🤣 OpenAcademics Academic Chatter™ #AcademicTwitter
I'm so excited for #CNS2024Natal, my first as a PI😀 I'll be speaking twice: once at a tutorial I'm co-organizing on Cortical Network Dynamics, and again at a workshop on multiscale cortical circuits led by the fantastic Maurizio De Pittà (@mdepitta.bsky.social). Let me know if you want to catch up in Natal!
Another #NewPI accomplishment: One page down on my next grant application! Who cares if only half of it is text and the rest is an outline of the remaining section headings😉 Academic Chatter™ OpenAcademics Future PI Slack #AcademicTwitter
Nothing epitomizes being a #NewPI more than going to fill up your water bottle and returning to your desk to find 5 new emails. Every. Single. Time. Academic Chatterâ„¢ OpenAcademics #AcademicTwitter
Another #NewPI achievement: the Rich Lab's first poster! Tarun presented his work at the UConn Undergrad Research Fall Frontiers poster session. In such a short time he's gone from learning Python to diving headfirst into bifurcation theory. Lucky to have him as one of my first undergrads!
A bittersweet new preprint alert, the last of my work at Krembil Brain Institute UHN Research! Jeremie Lefebvre, Dr. Valiante and I computationally deciphered how h- and m-channel over expression promote seizure. For more… come find me on that OTHER site 😉 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
