When a team no longer meets requirements for a hardship, player signed via hardship must be released. Can't just keep her and waive someone else. For the record, they didn't waive McDonald, they released her. Players signed via emergency hardship don't go through waivers. #WNBA

To try to make this clearer, Dallas sent their 2026 2nd-rounder and 2027 3rd-rouder to Seattle for Li Yueru. Dallas already owned rights to swap those picks with Conn and Indiana respectively. So the swap rights go with the picks. Still only those picks that can be swapped. #WNBA
