Donald J. Trump Posts From His Truth Social Mr. Trump: you don’t regulate trade, you weaponize it. Raising tariffs to 125% isn’t a negotiation tactic — it’s a geoeconomic tantrum dressed as nationalism. And while you frame it as protecting the U.S. from being “ripped off,” what you’re really protecting is a narrative:

Journalist: How will you determine (tariff) exemptions? President Trump: Instinctively. Fareed Zakariya: Studies show that politicians' instincts usually favor politicians their contributors, which then encourages pervasive corruption. youtube.com/watch?v=3xz7BG…

For you - whose wine is books, unread pile towers Burj Khalifa, current read lives in a bookstore; who forfeits meals for blurbs, dirges unbought books; who's rich by borrowing books, poor by lending; who dates characters of old books - Happy World Book Day.

BBC's Blood Parliament, on last year's Kenyan protests, is a heartbreaking report. Sadly quite familiar to Nigerians and far too many Africans. It's said crocodiles haven't evolved in millenia? Neither have our continent's security services in decades.😢 youtube.com/watch?v=qz0f1y…

You stoically avoid the Temu craze until an unfortunate Shoprite visit, and the sudden realization of how much your beloved Japanese pens now cost, induces the foolish (and fatal) decision to check for stationery on Temu. Good God. Take my money now!

This! I was introduced to Edward Said by Richard Ali. around 2007, and I find myself returning to his books, all of which I’ve read, again and again. He always offers a refreshing perspective on cultural decolonisation.
