Founders often dont realise that GTM is everything. You can have the best engineers building a world class product, but if you can't get it into people's hands it means nothing. Great distribution is why we see average products thrive. They can then just acquire the good ones!

Whilst this is fascinating and shows no giant is infallible, using GMV and not showing market growth and revenue is misleading. Shopifys take rate (<3%) is a lot lower than Amazons (6-45%!). In a fast growing market whilst Shopify are eating some cake Amazon still own the bakery
