New Testament teaching is for the church, not the larger culture. Paul never expected Nero to behave like a Christian but he did expect Christians not to behave like Nero. That being said, any culture that adopts New Testament teaching will be blessed by God.

“Christians” seem to be excited about all kinds of stuff right now. I wish a few more were excited about Jesus.

The best time to start attending church was thirty years ago. The second best time is this Sunday.

We need to remember that we are saved by grace when we fail. But we need to remember it much more when we succeed.

In a divisive, manic and politicized culture, we often find ourselves wondering what to believe. I believe the Bible.

I did not grow Christ Church. Only God can grow a Church. But I have had the honor of growing WITH Christ Church! Just starting year 29 as the Sr. Pastor, I am more grateful than ever!

The "list" in Romans 8:35 -- "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?" -- comes not from Paul's imagination but his lived experience in 2 Corinthians 11:24-27. Amen.

Church can’t just be for people who have their acts 100% together. There aren’t enough of them to fill one pew.

The culture must not be allowed to set the agenda for the church. The Great Commission sets the agenda for the church.

Some folks think I need to do a bit more Bible thumping. Others think I need to do a bit less. I figure I will just preach and teach the Bible as faithfully as I can and let it thump who it will...

When I was growing up, parents didn’t take first day of school photos. They just loaded us onto a yellow bus driven by a total stranger and said, “Good luck kid.”

We often have no idea how strong we truly are until we have to be stronger than we ever imagined. It is in these painful times that God not only sustains us but carries us. God has you. God has your situation. You will get through this. You are loved.

Thursday Musing: You will never “have the time” to do important things. Never. Urgent things take up all our time. All of it. When it comes to important things you have to intentionally “make time.” Make it. And you will be glad you did!
