Six years ago I was made Vicar of this amazing church. I’m profoundly grateful for every single day StNicholasLincoln, where everyone is invited and everyone is welcome.

It was with an incredibly heavy heart that I felt I had to write this, in support of my friends and colleagues who are chaplains in Barts Health Trust. I pray the bishops will find some way of moderating this decision.

I agree. ‘God is everywhere’ is an argument that misses the point of sacred spaces. They’re not for God - they’re for us. And the implication that gathering in consecrated buildings is somehow inessential to Christian life and faith may haunt us missionally for a long time.

After contact with Government we hear that there is no change to guidance on places of worship. Worship is the work of God - not a social gathering - and gives the strength to love and serve.
