Many educators answer the call to be the caring adult they once needed. Without awareness of our trauma, we enter rooms wearing blindfolds. But when we begin to heal our shame and fear of abandonment, we can show up fuller, freer, and more resilient — from boardroom to classroom.

What stops us from truly connecting? Many of us in education carry unhealed childhood wounds. My mission is to bring to teachers, staff, and administrators the same compassion and support we so readily give students, beginning with recognizing that we, too, hold hidden pain.

If you want to shift school climate, authentically involve your staff I visited a school where teachers co-planned interdisciplinary thematic units—and the energy was electric Give teachers time + trust, and they’ll create the kind of learning that pulls kids off their screens
