Georgina Hernandez gave one of the clearest and most interesting talks at #PAG30. Screening of common bean for root nodulation mutants led to differences in the plant's response to rhizobia. Root hairs not curling and a lack of infection threads prevents nodule formation.

Sometimes doing an annual review of your performance can provide a considerable boost to self-esteem. I despise tooting my own horn, but even I impressed myself. I assembled and annotated 28 genomes across 25 different species in 2022!

Juicer/3DDNA/Juicebox scaffolding is tremendously easier to use when you include a pseudomolecule reference alongside your fragmented assembly. Three different SCN assemblies with 2 references of the same line using only the first round of scaffolding. #genomics
