This is it, your last chance for 2024 if you haven’t or couldn’t respond to last month’s BIDS Community Survey on Google. The survey on CryptPad ends May 1, next Wednesday. Find it at bit.ly/bidssurvey2024…. Direct link: cryptpad.fr/form/#/2/form/…

From someone who has studied this field for over 2 decades, I can comfortably say that virtually everything said here is inaccurate. It is incredibly disturbing to me that someone claiming to be a scientist can talk with such authority on something they clearly know nothing about

I get that standards and data sharing and infrastructure doesn’t sound all that exciting. I get that funders want to fund the next big discovery or cure or treatment. But if we’re to make the most out of those huge, expensive, time-consuming data sets, they need to be reusable.

If you want something a bit more empirical than my semi tepid take on jupyter Notebooks and why they are bad, there was also this more empirical study with recommendations that out a while back. leomurta.github.io/papers/pimente…

Finally out the first pre-print of my PhD project with Hans Op de Beeck and @CollignonOlivi1. Here’s what we found about brain’s adaptation in sighted individuals who read ⠃⠗⠁⠊⠇⠇⠑ (Braille) visually

I found another AI-generated garbage diagram in a scientific journal. It’s entirely gibberish and features anatomically incorrect limbs with too many bones. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…

Apparently from my activity log of the past 18 months, I am bilingual in python and yaml. Does that mean I do dev ops?

This whole "bus factor" thing is just a theory. When was the last time a dev ACTUALLY got hit by a bus? How many RCT double blind trials about devs being hit by bus are there out there?
