it seems like there’s a trend in the lit world right now to call any creepy story with speculative elements “gothic” - and as someone really trying to write a book faithful to the genre, it’s bothering me.

i finished The Knight and The Moth and i am not well. it’s secured a solid spot as one of my favorite pieces of contemporary fantasy. it was so lush, fresh, honest, and witty. bravo, Rachel Gillig.
