I have a joke that I use when I'm working with teachers and it goes something like this ... 'Teaching is the only job where you nick stuff from your own home to take into work, rather than the other way around.' 😎

I have just signed the National Education Union Replace Ofsted petition. We must create a new accountability system that supports schools and pupils, not punishes them.bit.ly/ReplaceOfstedS… #LetTeachersTeach #ReplaceOfsted

40.6% of children in Redcar and Cleveland are now living in child poverty. This is what levelling up looks like. Another big fat Tory lie.

The government has announced teachers' biggest pay cut ever. National Education Union members will take part in a ballot in September - vote YES to taking strike action for a fair pay rise.

When our Vice President, Phil Clarke says: "Daniel is the [GS] candidate who supported and worked for action on pay and funding from the beginning." This is partially what he means This is conference 2018, moving the motion on workload My views here remain the same

"Dear Teachers, Call off your strikes next week and we can talk about pay. Sorry not got back to you sooner. By the way we are recommending another pay cut for you next year. Yours, Gill"

Daniel Kebede (@danielkebedeneu) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Strikes next week are the govts doing We're on strike because of sustained funding/pay cuts The govt can avert strikes (which is what we all want) by making a serious and sensible offer "Don't strike and we can talk" isn't serious. Particularly when you have not been talking

There is a real problem here, and it has nothing to do with the quality of provision. Inequality runs very deep in our country.

According to National Asbestos Helpline 90% of schools still contain asbestos. Add to that many schools are crumbling and are at risk of collapse due to RAAC and we have a deadly mix of risks. This is neglect. This is incompetence. This government needs to invest in children.
