My therapist said this to me and it hit me like a ton of bricks: I hear the roar of the big machine Two worlds and in between Hot metal and methedrine I hear your empire down

my therapist said this to me and it hit like a brick, but in a good way, i've never been afraid to get hit by a brick when it's necessary, my father used to throw bricks and he was a good man, he said, "if it drains you, it's not for you." and i really thought that was beautiful

Before he saw the iceberg, there was no beauty, for something cannot be beautiful if no one perceives it. Now there are two beautiful things: the beauty of the iceberg, and the beauty of the calculation.

Watching The Last Dance for the third time. One of my favorite pieces of media produced in the last decade, and I'm not even a Bulls fan.

Using these numbers, switching to self-driving cars like Waymo would save the US $421 BILLION per year in life-value. That's ~half the defense budget. Throwing away these savings for the sake of taxi drivers' jobs would be madness and cost >$2m per driver per year.

Nothing quite as satisfying as linking Aumann's agreement theorem at the end of an argument where the person has been forced to agree with everyone one of your premises but refuses to change their position. Truly a Passive Aggressive Saint.

Had an ideal interaction with an LLM today, where data provided via initial inquiry caused me to formulate a new hypothesis then confirm it was plausible with further data, which then allowed me to make a positive change in my life. They are force-multipliers.

Inside of me are two wolves. Although I was raised in Ohio so one of them is a golden retriever. So, like, 1 1/2 wolves. But definitely more than one.
