Menstrual cycle phase does not influence muscle protein synthesis or whole‐body myofibrillar proteolysis in response to resistance exercise. Great work from Lauren Colenso-Semple, PhD James McKendry, Ph.D. Changhyun Lim and our friends at Derby! physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/JP…
🚨Very proud of this paper for three reasons: 1. lots of early career researchers as co-authors 2. this tool is designed to be used in practice to benefit female athletes 3. it pulls together over 20 years of experience in one resource! ➕ its OPEN ACCESS! bmjopensem.bmj.com/content/10/4/e…
We recently created a fun handout for participants in the #FENDURA project After the study, each person received it along with personalised feedback on their menstrual cycle characteristics - Maybe someone here also finds it interesting🤗 🖌️Infographic by me and Dionne Noordhof
Great talk from Kirsty Sale at #Sportskongres2025 on practical strategies to support female athletes. It highlighted that there are myths and misconceptions which can be countered with a positive message, “You can compete and train across the whole menstrual cycle”
Again & again & again preach it Kirsty Sale! World records fall across everyday of the menstrual cycle! We can’t use a one-size fits a whole team approach. And lastly, please have open dialogue with your athletes and THEIR own experiences before using phase-specific training 💪🏼

One of the most important tweets I’ve seen this year ⬇️ Dame Sarah Storey has won 75 Paralympic medals and World titles across all phases of the menstrual cycle. Let that sink in. Female athletes: IT IS POSSIBLE TO WIN ON EVERY DAY OF THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE 💪🏻 Time to empower!
