Standing in line at Target, looking around at the other customers, carrying the delightful secret knowledge that I am writing a beautiful rom com. I wonder what secret knowledge you hold. I hope it fills you with delight.

The exquisite delight of being wholly immersed in your work, to the point of looking up from your laptop shocked that you are no longer inside your novel, your words, your world. I wish that for you today, total creative immersion. I’ve had that this morning.

That moment when you finish a chapter with such a powerful sentence that you sit back with your hand over your mouth, silenced. I just had that. May you reach similar levels of emotion in your writing today.

Rereading what I’ve written in my WIP and murmuring, “I would buy this book.” May you find equal joy in your own writing today.

My father (on the phone): So how do you feel about having a new literary agent? Me: I feel the most me I’ve ever been. Literary friends, creatives, may you also make choices that make you feel the most you that you’ve ever been. You deserve it.

This evening, I stood in a roomful of peers and received this award. May you also receive validation that sets your soul on fire, may your words resonate loudly enough that every doubt is silenced.

May you write consistently, write with hope, write with the belief you will one day see a Publisher’s Marketplace announcement with your name on it, one day find your book on the best shelf at your favorite bookstore.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I’m not leaving Twitter, X, whatever this platform names and renames itself as. I’m here. I’m staying. Stay with me.
