Thrilled to see Northern Brown Argus Aricia artaxerxes ssp. salmacis Smardale Gill this week. Beautiful rich Brown colour, although markings fade fast! Feeds on Common Rock-rose. Restricted range across Cumbria/N.Yorks. Also called Castle Eden Argus Butterfly Conservation π¦ Sarah L


Jaw dropping sight Waitby Greenriggs NR this week. Globeflower Trollius europaeus, most Beautiful Buttercup member I've seen! 5-15 sepals construct the globe. Further Waitby Greenriggs delights, Northern Marsh Orchid Dactylorhiza purpurella, smaller,less rounded than Southern Marsh. Great to see Melancholy thistle Cirsium heterophyllum. Great to see plenty of Marbled White Butterflies, Somerset WT Green Down NR. Despite a whole host of Wildflowers on offer, landed on their favourite Greater Knapweed every time! Also Lovely to see pleated Yellow-Brown wings of a newly emerged Ringlet Butterfly Conservation π¦ Sarah L



Extremely Rare find along Cannock Chase Sherbrook Valley, Female Clouded Buff Moth Diacrisia sannio Unlike daytime flying Males Pale Yellow Maroon spots, elusive Nocturnal Females are a Stunning Flame Orange, Red veins with Black Spots British Moths Butterfly Conservation π¦ Sarah L


Real joy to see Fabulous looking Bee Orchid Ophrys apifera, Flower rich Ancient Meadows below Battlesbury Iron Age hillfort. Perfect Lilac sepals, Velvet Gold-Brown lower lip. Also on Battlesbury Hill Lilac-Purple Hoary Plantain Plantago media, an Ancient Meadow Indicator Species. What an absolute joy to see one of our most Endangered Butterflies Wood White Leptidea sinapis showing resurgence at Monkwood NR. Thanks to careful BC & WT efforts to manage Woodland rides sympathetically, numbers are slowly rising again Butterfly Conservation π¦ The Wildlife Trusts Sarah L

Thrilled to find in Pembrey Burrows Soapwort Saponaria officinalis. Lovely soft Pink flowers, sepal tubes like asparagus tips. Historic plant used to make soap in woollen mills. Two lovely plants around 1830's Old Burry Port Harbour, basal rosette of Buck's-Horn Plantain Plantago coronopus unopened Purple flowers & deeply cut edible leaves.
