In 1872, AM Sullivan's satirical publication 'Zozimus' carried an article on the Four Courts ending with a prediction that it would be burnt 'at the end of the world, or at least at the end of the Millenium.' By eerie coincidence, the Four Courts was in fact burnt down exactly

Another poor decision by @anbordpleanala iro #BusConnects #Route12 - disastrous impact on Rathfarnham Castle especially its Woodland. Regrettably it could have been avoided. Hacking away more of the Historic Park & its friendly #Autism woodland. #SaveRathfarnhamCastle

Reading the decision Ref 316272 from @anbordpleanala iro BusConnects Route 12 & its impacts on Rathfarnham Castle is an eye opener in terms of neglect for a #NationalMonument Do ABP care or do they actually have #heritage law competency in-house to assess such proposals?

#BreakingNews Inland Fisheries Ireland have instructed Office of Public Works & SDCC to cease works on their Flood Alleviation Scheme till June ‘25. Their mitigation measures are the pollution. They must remove the materials. Guess who pays for this? #Otters #fish & us #HowIrelandWorks

They say the Library of Alexandria held the knowledge of the ancient world. We always hear about its destruction, but we rarely ask: What was actually lost? Here’s a glimpse at what humanity may have lost forever:

Architecture of Dublin Castlebar has long been a problem. Ellison St has long been neglected while a range of generic shop units behind it have been developed. It's a crying shame because so many of the houses on Ellison St were intrinsically fine houses.

Today, in 1877, ten members of a secret society of Irish coal miners known as "The Molly Maguires" were executed in Pennsylvania. The day would become known as ‘Black Thursday'. The organisation had been known to use strongarm tactics, but this was often in self-defense against

On this day in 1996, a journalist called Veronica Guerin stopped her car at the traffic lights at Newlands Cross. Two men on a motorbike pulled up alongside her. One of the helmeted men produced a gun and fired six bullets into the reporters car. The thugs may have brutally

SDCC Cllrs voted to remove the Seán Keating Park/walled garden ⛲️ as we know it. With #Busconnects CPO of lands 🙄& this decision means valuable amenities again Rathfarnham Castle succumb to a larger 🚘 park for SDCC’s retail dev causing uncertainty for #Rathfarnham Village traders

Wanderly Wagon was more than a kids' show. At a time when there was feck all else for Irish children to watch, it was an adventure that rolled into their living rooms every weekend. The idea for Wanderly Wagon came from Jim O’Hare, inspired by a family holiday in a horse-drawn

Isn’t this the area in Rathfarnham Castle that is being cpo’d by BusConnects ? A huge pity that so much of the woodland is going to be cut down? Such a pity that SDCC didn’t object to that as these spaces require protection.
