This clip of Andreas (aantonop Team) speaking in 2013, now has over 1 million views "Andreas' first ever public talk about #bitcoin, delivered in his widely recognized and unique style: with no slides and lots of passion." Full video here: youtube.com/watch?v=EiW4lK…

Thich Nhat Hahn had a dramatic influence on me asking “What is more important being successful or being happy?” I thought “Both!” & Thay said “If everything is impt nothing is important — choose. You can be a victim of your success but you won’t be a victim of your happiness.” ❤️

"Proof of Work is based on the laws of physics, so you have to work with the world as it is... Whereas because Proof of Stake is virtualized in this way, it's basically letting us create a simulated universe that has its own laws of physics." #Bitcoin

Solana is a doomed project, but what often gets missed IMO is that they are usually truthful & transparent about their failures (e.g. clearly stating that they trade off liveness for safety). Whereas other PoS projects (like ETH) are not only bad, but full of pathological liars.

The reason SOL goes down a lot is because it’s designed to shut down when things fail (as opposed to letting things further implode). It perfectly illustrates the hard constraints of distributed computing. And why Nakamoto Consensus was a major breakthrough.

As currency is inflated, its capacity to carry energy and information are diminished. In hyperinflation, an economy suffers "organ failure." In this way, inflation is cancerous to the market economy, and #Bitcoin is curative. Throwback clip from episode WiM005 with Michael Saylor

Bitcoin is the mind virus that has successfully infiltrated the highest echelon of society, 14 years after its inception. They can’t stop thinking about it. Incredible no matter what your opinion of Bitcoin is. Even the Internet didn’t spread this fast.

Since 1969 Strassen’s algorithm has famously stood as the fastest way to multiply 2 matrices - but with #AlphaTensor we’ve found a new algorithm that’s faster, with potential to improve efficiency by 10-20% across trillions of calculations per day! dpmd.ai/dm-alpha-tensor

Bitcoin doesn't support zero-confirmations, it's not your bitcoin yet. Building products on top of that "illusion" is a terrible idea waiting to break or be exploited.

one interesting discourse note is that of course people with strong anti-crypto priors are all over the ftx story and generally running with the most negative take on it and claiming vindication (as is often justified), but so are *pro* crypto people, especially bitcoin maxis

If Twitter survives after culling 90% of its workforce then I must insist, with great regret of course, that we do the same with the Federal government.

I’m sick of hearing crypto confused with a heavily-marketed centralised, mismanaged exchange. FTX’s failure is far from a harbinger of crypto. Quite the opposite: it’s a concrete demonstration of the need for more, better decentralised, trust-free technology.

Only 2 things you need in a relationship: 1. Can you completely resolve conflict 2. Are they helping you become more like the person you want to be

Hal made this tweet 14 years ago today. A pioneer. A visionary. The first to see the promise of Bitcoin and the first to ever receive a transaction. Thank you Hal 🙏
