May 21 - 27 is National Public Works Week. Public Works is the thread that connects us all, with every professional striving to improve the quality of life for the communities they serve. Their work leads to happier, healthier communities. 💜

May 22-26 is Disability Service Professionals Week. These professionals are often employed by Community Based Organizations, who fill the gaps of services not provided by the government, despite not having multiyear funding commitments. We are thankful for the care they provide.

May 21 - 27 is Paramedic Services Week. Paramedics are often the first point of contact into the healthcare system for people who may not have anywhere else to turn. They work in challenging, high pressure, situations, while providing lifesaving care to our community. 💜

Canada Health Transfer funds are at risk of being poured into privatization, or provincial general revenue funds. We need the federal government to take action and ensure that these dollars are actually spent on publicly funded, delivered and administered health care.

Today marks the beginning of Pride month. Pride is a celebration of love and acceptance for those who are members of the 2SLGBTQIA++ community. It is also a reminder that we must remain vigilant in ensuring human rights are respected in workplaces, schools, and in the community.
