#Defra letter instructing us to keep our 4 chickens housed because of bird flu. Surrounding countryside saturated with released pheasants and weekends guns blasting on farms and estates. Are there special exemption agreements, why not a full lock down?

Well I find that deeply disappointing. It indicates we have learnt nothing and refuse to be accountable. It should always be first about the environment and human wellbeing. We cannot substitute ethics and moral duty/ responsibility with economic trade off

My understanding from latest science reports about conditions and current trajectories is we have already passed the 1.5C post. Certainly in Europe 2022. And have no idea about next summer. How long will we continue to sell to the people the 1.5C target?

The dedicated nurses who have been there for all of us through Covid and so much more have never needed your support as much as they do right now. We stand with them 100%. Please RT if you do too. theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/n…

You mean it has taken all this time and an army of academics to come up with a crushingly obvious statement at COP27?. The reason there has been no change in global economic models is too many folk benefit from it. Get rich quickly

So almost all UK rivers have been classed as ecologically unfavorable status and you want to recharge our reservoirs with the muck (sewer) discharge from our rivers? You may want to do a bit of fact searching before putting such ideas out there

Peter Hobson (@profpetehobson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Deeply worrying and disappointing that in the 21st century we continue to talk about predator control using snares ( ethical?). Exterminating every predator because they are acting out their evolutionary role in the name of conservation is not going to save our biodiversity

Sadly, at COP,27 climate crisis is being usurped by energy crisis. Gives little hope of radical transformational change necessary to tackle deepening problems of climate change

Peter Hobson (@profpetehobson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Much the same but then there is a strong element of conservatism running through the older generation that is resistant to change in fear it will break down old orders - I include river dredging and verge cutting, and their views are echoed in certain press

Did you get that? 🤔 No? Well, then let's spell it out for you. Renewable energy is the key to Africa's development - not this colonial agenda of extractivism. #COP27
