How do we reconcile the Prophet ﷺ fasting more in Shaban with the excellence of fasting in Muharram? Imam an-Nawawi said in his explanation of Sahih Muslim that perhaps the virtue of Al-Muharram was not revealed to him until the end of his life, before he was able to fast in it.
